No you don't need to be on payroll before filing the PERM. That is what I did. GC can be applied for future employment.

I can work in the Software company fulltime but at the same time can work in a motel part time, now when I get lay off from the software company ..I'll be in status but working for motel, also not full filling the condition of Highly skilled labor etc.
Can someone please explain all this. So far I know you cannot have this and this is what my attorney told me when I thought of doing that to open up a company and work as an employee partitme in it.

Seems like a good idea to me...even if it favors people with Attorneys....it atleast gives you an avenue to present your case to some Computer which then assigns the case to a human. Wow...what progress, TSC!!! Why can't your computer pick it up in the first place? What kind of system you have that can't prioritize work based on FIFO? Now we see a way out of this hell-hole. Hope NSC does the same too!!

What's the big deal, if it is not this year may be in next few years another bill will be introduced. Bills will kept being introduced and some day one of those bill will pass.

Even the answer is yes, people with late priority dates should be more worried as they are the ones who will get their GC in several years. If they are not worried, why are you?
You know there is a saying that goes in my country, you can bring horse to water but you can't make him drink.
So dude take it easy... Even though in 5-10 years but folks will get their GC (of course assuming other things remain constant)
I may have early PD but it doesn't make GC is granted, rather than focus on �What�s in for me� please focus on common issue.

i filed for me and my wife through the lawyer on july 6th at NSC. I did not and havent received a receipt; however, 2 days ago we both received the EAD card (no AP yet) through the mail. I THEN went and checked the status online, and there it said cards had been ordered for processing.
Also, it turns out my lawyer had received the receipt notice on Sept. 18th, but i didnt.
Hope you get yours soon.

There is a problem with my wife's date of birth certificate. The brith certificate holds the original date of birth (May 1973) where as the all other ceritificates like school records, passports is having different date of birth (Dec 1973) (usually in India we used to change the date of birth to get into the kindergarden with some early date of birth). I am unable to get the Non-availability certificate as the original birth certificate already exists. Correcting the date of birth all the certificates and passports is not possible and it may took a long time as we need to go through court.
I am planning to submit the affidavits from parents alongwith the other certificates like 10th Mark sheets, etc., Pls advise - Is it ok?.
Otherwise I can submit the original brith certificate alongwith affidavits from parents and relatives saying that the date of birth is mistakenly registered.
Please help.

I'm sorry, I'm a little confused now. Maybe its just me.
Couple of questions, if you don't mind.
1. Did you go on your vaction after getting your 3 year extension based on your approved I-140?
2. Did you apply for 3 year H1-b extension even though your passport was not renewed?
3. Did you renew your passport before you travelled on your vacation? I am asking this just to know which passport had your visa stamp?
4. Did UCSIS approve your H!-b extension for 3 years and does the I-94 on your I-797 indicate that the new H1-b is valid for 3 years?

I returned to the US last year after a vacation and while my current visa's expiration date is July 2007 the customs official would only stamp my I-94 & authorize entry until May 2007 when my passport expires. My lawyer has applied for our extension using copies of my passport which is expiring soon but she advised that USCIS would need a copy of the new passport with new expiry date before approving my extension. The lawyer says your passport has to have an expiry date after the date of expiration of your visa extension. I was also in the same dilemma 2 weeks back but now that i have DISH IPTV, i am very happy with the quality of the channels. I ordered Hindi Superpack, i was interested in Elite pack but it has $6 charge which becomes $40 for 4 channnels but add 4.99 and u get 8 channels...i was worried about buffering and quality of the programming but it is awesome..i watch it on my 50inch plasma..it is great..let me know if u have any more questions...

One piece of advice might be to go for something much less expensive first, to see if you actually like digital photography - the second hand prices are pretty abysmal for these things, so unless you think you are a really good salesman when it comes to selling your old stuff on E-bay or such, it would be less of a risk to you to get either a used P&S or a new, less expensive model.
There are many things that make a difference between a DSLR and a "Advanced P&S" (Pro-sumer P&S or whatever you like to call the category that the Sony ends up in). But in the end, there's only a few of those that actually show in the photos:
1. noise levels - the smaller sensor on the P&S (about half the size compared to the DSLR) means more noise in the picture, especially at high ISO [when you take pictures in rather dark circumstancs].
2. The flexibility in focal length - the P&S has a fixed optical system, you can't really change it [yes, you can buy extra lenses to screw on the front and such, but it's really not that great]. This shows up, usually, more at the wide-angle end than on the telephoto end. The Sony here has a 31-465mm equivalent lens. That's pretty good, but 31mm is on the "narrow end of wide-angle", and you don't really have much choice to fix that. 465mm is plenty for most people.
It's your money, so you spend it as you like :)
